Welcome to our ESO Lord Hollowjack Boss Fight Guide where we will explain the new “The Lord of Fear Quest” and Lord Hollowjack’s mechanics so you can defeat him. The Lord of Fear Quest in ESO
Warning: The Lord of Fear Quest contains jump scare(s) and loads of general creepiness.
The new ESO The Lord of Fear Quest Daily quest giver Priest Maxien Roudille is found inside the Witches Cove in Auridon, Glenumbra or Stonefalls. You do not need to complete any quests to enter the Witches Cove.
Priest Maxien Roudille will task you with rescuing three Haunted people in the three different basegame zones; Grahtwood, Deshaan and Stormhaven. After rescuing the three Haunted people, you will face Lord Hollowjack himself inside his Seat of Detritus.
After rescuing the haunted once on a character, the next time you pickup the daily quest with that character, it will ask you to just defeat Lord Hollowjack.
Remember to return the quest to Priest Maxien Roudille as the “Dremora Plunder Skull, Lord Hollowjack” has a very small chance to offer you ALL the new special rewards in a single skull!
ESO Lord Hollowjack Boss Fight Mechanics
You will find Lord Hollowjack inside his realm, the Seat of Detritus. Its is recommended to bring other players with you as the fight has resource drains and some stuns. He has 6,6 million health and several phases with adds joining him quite often. You don’t take much damage from anything except from his Aura of Dread during his search phase which is a one-shot, killing you instantly.
You are able to join groups to defeat Lord Hollowjack for a chance of obtaining his bust, even if you do not have the quest. The portal will open the moment a player with the quest joins your group, or you join theirs.
Note that you will not get the Dremora Plunder Skull without the quest.
Sapping Scarecrow totems
Lord Hollowjack summons Sapping Scarecrow totems that apply resource drain to all players. During the sneak phase, resource drain stacks are indicated by a crow that flies above your head.
If you don’t kill the totems before the sneak phase, you have to use the crow synergies to remove resource drain stacks. You will struggle with stamina and staying in sneak if you don’t remove the resource drain stacks.
Patch Wraith Adds
The Patch Wraith Adds do not do much damage and are generally ignored during the fight.
Lord Hollowjack Sneak Phases (hunt phase)
Lord Hollowjack will start hunting the players twice during the fight and heal himself to 70% and 30% health even if you get him to 0% before the phases start. You will need to stay in sneak and avoid the boss’s and lanterns Aura of Dread AOE’s as touching it kills you instantly.
If you did not kill the Sapping Scarecrow totems before the sneak phase, you will need to use Crow Synergies to get rid of the resource drain stacks. Running out of stamina is the main reason people die during the sneak phase.
It is recommended you spread out around the map since the boss will charge at players that stop sneaking and kill all other players that touch the AOE during the charge. Resurrect immediately so you can complete the phase even if people keep dying.
HINT: Change to foods that only buff your stamina regeneration such as Hagraven’s Tonic which gives you 604 stamina regen. Being a vampire is also very helpful as it removes the cost of sneak.
The amount of lanterns depends on the group size. For example a full 12 man group will have the boss and two lanterns during the sneak phases.
Execute Phase
After the second sneak phase, his execute phase starts. He summons a giant Jack-o’-lantern that casts blazing beams to the ground which sadly do not do much damage either. Most groups just ignore mechanics and adds at this point and kill the boss.

How to get the Trophy Lord Hollowjack in ESO
The ESO Trophy: Lord Hollowjack is awarded to you after defeating Lord Hollowjack and returning the quest to Priest Maxien Roudille in the Witches Cove. You also earn the Pumpkin Plunderer achievement.
How to get the Bust Lord Hollowjack in ESO
The ESO Bust: Lord Hollowjack has a chance to drop as loot from Lord Hollowjack. Unlike other busts in ESO, thee Lord Hollowjack Bust does not have any special conditions like normal/veteran/hard mode and instead can just drop randomly.
