How to farm Energy Activators in The First Descendant

In this guide, I will explain how to farm Energy Activators in The First Descendant. I will show you the fastest way to farm Energy Activators. These are needed to increase the Module Capacity of your character (+20) and weapon (+30).

You get one or two Energy Activators from the game by leveling up your first character and finishing the story. However, after that, you have to start farming Energy Activators, and you need plenty to optimize your The First Descendant Builds. All your characters will need one and all useful weapons.

I highly recommend using the first two Energy Activators you get for your main character and for your most used weapon.

There are two ways to get Energy Activators:

Purchase them via the in-game shop
Craft them via the Research Institute

Crafting Energy Activators will take a lot longer than simply purchasing them for real money. However, I will show you how to optimize the grind for the items needed.

How to farm Energy Activator Materials in The First Descendant

You need the following items to craft an Energy Activator in The First Descendant. Please make sure to have a good The First Descendant Build that can be used for hard difficulty. Most materials are actually easy to obtain if you farm them at the right spot. The biggest problem usually is the Energy Activator Blueprint that causes headaches, but even this one can be farmed in a decent time if done correctly.

Energy Activator Materials needed:

Item Name
Amount

Now, I will show you the best locations to farm Energy Activator materials in The First Descendant.

Low-Carbon Activator

The Low-Carbon Activator only drops from one location, in the Kingstone zone, on hard difficulty. The material drops in the Strategic Outpost mission only from the boss (Yellow Health Bar Monster). The Low Carbon Activator won’t show up on the loot list of the activity because it drops from the boss monster. Many players get confused because they don’t see the item in the loot reward list.

The main issue is that Strategic Outposts have a five-minute mission reset timer. You can try to swap zones, sometimes it teleports you into a new instance where the mission is ready to go.

Material: Low-Carbon Activator
Location: Kingston Zone, The Fallen Theater area, Vulgus Strategic Outpost.
Difficulty: Hard
Drops from: The material only drops from the boss monster [YELLOW HEALTH BAR] after you destroy the objectives.
Amount: 12-25 materials per kill
Tip 1: First, do this as private mission. That way you make sure you don’t have to wait for the timer.
Tip 2: Swap zones to potentially reset 5-minute timer
Tip 3/Bug: If you kill the boss monster outside and the timer is at 0 it will immediately reset but you still get boss monster loot (See video).

It is important to understand that only the yellow boss monster drops this item. You can do this with any character, but if you want to get extra rewards you need Sharen to successfully infiltrate outposts.

Conductive Metallic Foil

The next material we need for our The First Descendant Energy Activator is the Conductive Metallic Foil. This has plenty of drop locations to pick from, but you definitely want to select the best location to get it as fast as possible.

The best option only works with the Descendant Enzo. The second best option can be done with any character.

The first option involves opening Vaults in the Vespers zone on hard difficulty, and the best (and pretty much the only) way to do this is with Enzo. He has a passive that makes it super easy to open Vaults. Vault keys are scarce so you don’t want to fail the minigame. Unlocking Enzo in The First Descendant isn’t that difficult. Vaults are spread all over the place on the map.

The second best option you have is doing the Floodplain Extermination Mission in the Vespers zone on hard difficulty. Any monster in that mission has the chance to drop the item needed, in low quantity only though as you can see in the video below. Extermination missions are great because you can clear this mission very fast if you kill the monsters faster. On a lot of other missions you have to wait for respawns which slows down the whole process even more.

Material: Conductive Metallic Foil
Location 1: Encrypted Vaults in the Vespers zone (Need Enzo)

Amount: 5-12 materials per vault

Location 2: Floodplain Extermination Mission, Vesper zone, hard difficulty

Drops from: Any mission monster, low drop chance
Amount: 1-4 materials per monster that drops any

Heat Plasma Battery

Heat Plasma Battery is best farmed in the Old Mystery mission on hard difficulty in the Hagios zone. You can go to the Infiltration Operations Terminal on Albion and select Old Mystery, hard difficulty.

The best way to do this is in a private session because you won’t finish the mission. You will only go up to a certain point where yellow health bar monsters spawn that can drop the Heat Plasma Battery. Obviously, if you use any Bunny Build you will be speeding through the mission as she has way more movement speed than anyone else. But if you don’t have a good Bunny, use any Descendant of your choice.

It also helps to have a good Grapple Hook mod for easier movement.

You want to run the mission solo and skip everything up to the point where Kuiper ores need to be destroyed. Here, it is important to destroy only 5 out of 6. Because that way, more Yellow Health Bar Monsters can spawn and drop the Heat Plasma Battery!

Material: Heat Plasma Battery
Zone: Hagios (Just use Infiltration Terminal in Albion)
Intercept Mission: Old Mystery
Difficulty: Hard
Drops from: Elite Slaughterer (Yellow Healthbar Monsters)
Instance: Solo
Restart: After Kuiper Ore destruction phase
Amount: 6-12 materials per kill

Of course, if you need another item from that mission, you can finish it anyway. But if you want to just farm the Heat Plasma Battery, it is best to restart after the Kuiper Ore objective.

Polyatomic Ion Particle

Polyatomic Ion Particle is best farmed in the Fortress zone on hard difficulty with the Command Relay mission. You can farm this solo or in a group. If you are in public mode it is likely that already other players are farming there anyway and you can simply join them. This will also be faster because you will kill monsters at an accelerated pace compared to when you solo. Faster kills, faster yellow health bar monster spawns.

Material: Polyatomic Ion Particle
Zone: Fortress
Difficulty: Hard
Mission: Command Relay
Drops from: First and second Yellow Health Bar Monster.
Amount: 6-12 Materials per mob

Energy Activator Blueprint

The Energy Activator Blueprint only drops from Amorphous Materials, plenty of them. Purple-quality Amorphous Material will give you a 3% chance (6% with Shape Stabilizer), and the gold-quality Amorphous Material gives you a 6% chance (10% with Shape Stabilizer).

Energy Activator Blueprint drop chance:

Purple Amorphous Material: 3%/ 6% with Shape Stabilizer
Gold Amorphous Material: 6%/ 10% with Shape Stabilizer

Click on the Map, select Access Info, select Amorphous Material, search for Energy Activator Blueprint.

This will show you all the Amorphous Material that has a chance to drop the Energy activator Blueprint. That means, if you already have some go and kill the specific colossus for it and you might get lucky. Otherwise, here is the best way to farm the Amorphous Material.

It is easiest to farm the Magisters Lab infiltration mission on normal mode in the Kingston zone. You can access this via the Infiltration Operation Termin in Albion. I recommend farming about 10x Amorphous Material 002. You will have to defeat the Grave Walker colossus on normal mode to use the Reconstructed Device to crack open the Amorphous Material.

Material: Energy Activator Blueprint
Best Farm: Amorphous Material Pattern: 002 (Purple Quality)
Zone: Kingston
Difficulty: Normal
Location: Infiltration, Magisters Lab (Can be accessed via the Infiltration Operation Terminal)
Time: One run takes 3-5 minutes
Amount: Farm about 10 Amorphous Material Patterns 002
Boss to kill: Intercept Grave Walker on normal mode (solo)

Because each run only takes 3-5 minutes, this is the fastest farming method to get hold of the Energy Activator Blueprint, even though the drop rate is only 3/6% with the Shape Shifter.

Gold

If you need extra Gold I would simply recommend using a farming spot that gives both good Gold and Kuiper Shards (Module Leveling). We have a guide on the Top 3 Kuiper Shards Farming Spots in The First Descendant that you can check out.
