Jayber’s Story
Here is a quick list of the pros and cons of the Jayber Build for The First Descendant.
Pros
Turrets deal automatic damage
Medical Turret can heal and support allies
Quite beginner-friendly
Cons
Average mobility
Relatively weak when turrets aren’t active
How to Play Jayber in the First Descendant
Jayber is a fairly beginner-friendly Descendant in TFD, thanks to his summonable turrets which passively deal DPS and can do a lot of the fighting for you.
The most important aspect to master when playing as Jayber is getting the hang of Enhancing your Turrets. The Assault Turrets deal more damage when Enhanced, while Medical Turrets will also restore MP and Taunt, nearby enemies, taking pressure off Jayber and his teammates.
To begin with, you’ll need to use the Multi-Purpose Gun to enhance your turrets in combat. However, later on, you can use Reactivate to “pack up” your summoned turrets. This, in turn, allows you to immediately summon the enhanced versions, as long as you summon them within 30 seconds of using Reactivate.
Finally, you gain a 20% boost to your ATK by ensuring you have both types of turret active during combat. This is thanks to Jayber’s Turret Sync passive. However, there is an alternative build option that we’ll explain later in the guide, whereby you use a Descendant Module to change the Medical Turret into a second Assault Turret, allowing you to have two Assault Turrets active at once.
We also ranked Jayber’s kit and playstyle and added him to our The First Descendant Tier List – Best Characters.

Assault Turret Skill Description:
Non-Attribute – Dimension
Summons an Assault Turret that attacks the enemy.
The summoned turret’s stats are proportional to Jayber’s stats. It stays on the battlefield to attack enemies.
When hit by the Multi-Purpose Gun, enters Enhanced state and creates a Damage Zone which deals continuous damage to nearby enemies.
How to use Assault Turret:
Place the Assault Turret down in a location where you expect to be fighting for a while. The turret will last for 12 seconds (base value) and attack nearby enemies for the duration. If possible, use the Multi-Purpose Gun to enhance the turret with extra damage output.

The summoned turret’s stats are proportional to Jayber’s stats, and the turret becomes enhanced when hit by the Multi-Purpose Gun.
How to use Medical Turret:
Medical Turrets can be placed to heal you and your allies. Place them close to enemies and enhance them with the Multi-Purpose Gun to make the turret Taunt enemies, forcing them to attack the turret instead of you and other players.
This skill has a rather long cooldown of 45 seconds, so try to be careful with the timing and placement to avoid wasting it.

Reactivate Description:
Non-Attribute – Singular
Retrieves all summoned turrets.
Upon retrieval, fires multiple fragments nearby to deal AoE damage.
Using Reactivate gains Overhaul for a period of time, allowing you to summon turrets as Enhanced turrets.
How to use Reactivate:
Used correctly, Reactivate makes Jayber simpler to play and more versatile, since you don’t need to spend as much time “setting up” your turrets and enhancing them in a new location.
Use Reactivate to pack up your turrets at the end of a fight, and as long as you start the next engagement within 30 seconds, your new turrets will already be enhanced at the start of a fight. You can then use the Multi-Purpose Gun to add duration to your enhanced turrets.

Turret Sync increases Jayber’s ATK.
How to use Turret Sync:
Turret Sync is a passive skill, which means it is always active. Keeping this passive in mind, it is highly recommended to have both turret types active as often as possible when you are in prolonged combat. This improves your Firearm ATK and Skill Power by 20%, which is a boost that’s simply too good not to have.

Jayber Build Modules for The First Descendant
In this section, we will explain the recommended Descendant Modules for this Jayber Build in the First Descendant.
Important! When equipping Modules on Jayber , make sure that as many modules as possible are in a slot with a matching icon (top left corner on tooltip). This will half their Module Capacity Cost.
Your Module Capacity Cost limits how many modules you can equip, and can be upgraded as you level up your character. Different modules have a different Capacity Cost, which generally depends on how powerful the Module is. This is a balancing system to prevent players from only equipping the strongest modules and having a totally overpowered character.

Best Weapons & Weapon Mods for our TFD Jayber Build
In this section, we will explain the best weapons for our TFD Jayber Build and the ideal weapon mods for them. The Thunder Cage Submachine Gun is the only important weapon for our TFD Jayber Build Loadout. To max out all the mods listed here your Weapon module capacity must be maxed. If you don’t have enough slots yet, make sure to follow the prioritization queue.
How to get modules: Go to your map and then select Access Info on the top of your screen. Select Modules and type in what module you want to search for. Next, click on Acquisition Info and you will see where those have a chance to drop.
We recommend using the following weapon for Jayber in the First Descendant:
Enduring Legacy – Machine Gun
Enduring Legacy is a powerful ultimate-tier machine gun that puts a debuff on enemies when you hit them, causing them to be weak to fire damage.
If you don’t have Enduring Legacy yet or have a different Machine gun you prefer, such as Tamer, you can use another Machine Gun, and it won’t affect the build much.
This is a high DPS weapon with a quick fire-rate. It suits Jayber’s Build very well in The First Descendant due to its great damage output, allowing you to add to the fire from your summoned turrets with your own rapid hail of bullets.
We are using the following weapons mods for the Enduring Legacy Weapon:
Rifling Reinforcement – Improves Firearm ATK
Fire Enhancement – Adds Fire ATK equal to a portion of Firearm ATK
Important: This should be changed to Chill, Electric or Toxic Enhancement when fighting against a Colossus that is weak to those elements.
Action and Reaction – Improves Firearm ATK, increases Recoil
Weak Point Insight – Increases your Weak Point Damage. Slightly increases Firearm Critical Rate
Weak Point Sight – Increases your Weak Point Damage.
Fire Rate UP – Increases your Fire Rate.
Nazeistra’s Devotion – Hand Cannon
Nazeistra’s Devotion is a great secondary weapon for the Jayber Build. It works especially well if you’re good at aiming and are confident at hitting enemy Weak Points.
Hitting an enemy’s weakpoints with Nazeistra’s Devotion reduces their Defence by 30% for 3 seconds, indirectly buffing the damage of all of your attacks. A carefully-aimed shot from Nazeistra’s Devotion therefore makes for a great opener when fighting strong single targets.
We recommend the following Modules for Nazeistra’s Devotion:
Rifling Reinforcement – Increase Firearm ATK
Better Insight – Increase Firearm Critical Rate
Better Concentration – Increase Firearm Critical Damage
Vibration Absorption – Reduces Recoil
Fire Rate UP – Increases the Fire Rate
Hawk-Eye – Improves Accuracy
Expand Impact Magazine – Improves Magazine Size
Afterglow Sword – Sniper Rifle
Another great secondary weapon that can help to buff Jayber’s damage if you hit enemy Weak Points. Hitting an enemy’s Weak Point with the Afterglow Sword will inflict Death Propagation, improving Weak Point Damage by 5% per stack. You’ll also get extra Critical Rate when hitting Commanders and Colossi with this weapon.
We recommend the following Modules for the Afterglow Sword:
Rifling Reinforcement – Increases Firearm ATK
Action and Reaction – Increases Firearm ATK, but slightly increases Recoil
Better Insight – Increases Firearm Critical Rate
Better Concentration – Increases Critical Damage
Weak Point Detection – Improves Weak Point Damage and Firearm ATK
Weak Point Sight – Improves Weak Point Damage
Real-Life Fighter (optional) – Reduces Accuracy by 20%. Hitting a Weak Point grants +3% Firearm ATK for 5 seconds, stacking up to 10 times. Missing a Weak Point attack removes 2 stacks. Only use this Module if you are confident with precise aiming!
Best Reactor Stats for Jayber in The First Descendant
Your Reactor is a very important item that determines your skill damage and can also include extra modifiers that buff certain aspects of your build. The better your Reactor is, the more damage your skills will deal to enemies.
We recommend prioritizing using a Reactor with a high Skill Power and Sub Attack Power. Secondly, look out for a Reactor that buffs Non-Attribute and/or Dimension skills, as most of Jayber’s damaging skills fall into these categories. After that, look out for Reactors with a boost to your Skill Critical Hit Damage, which will improve the amount of damage dealt when you land a critical hit.
Also, look out for an Optimization Condition that you can easily fulfill with your Jayber build. For example, we have a Reactor that requires an equipped Sniper Rifle to meet the Optimization Condition. Meeting the condition increases the Skill Power of your reactor, so it’s important to meet this whenever possible.
The name of a reactor can be determined by the following. For example a reactor with the name Tingling in it means it is good for anything that deals Electric damage.
Name
Type
Tingling
Electric
Burning
Fire
Toxic
Toxic
Frozen
Chill
Materialized
Non-Attribute
Mechanics
Tech
Singularity
Singular
Mixture
Fusion
Phase
Dimension
The First Descendant Jayber’s attribute is Non-Attribute and his skills use the following types:
Dimension (Assault Turret, Medical Turret)
Singular (Multi-Purpose Gun, Reactivate)
That means you want to pick a reactor with the following names:
Materialized Phase Boost to Non-Attribute and Dimension type
Materialized Singularity: Boost to Non-Attribute and Singular type
Because our The First Descendant Jayber Build wants to boost the Assault and Medical Turret as much as possible. Therefore, we want to select a Materialized Phase reactor. However, any will do until you have a proper version of a reactor!
External Components
Finally, we have the best External Components for the Jayber build in the First Descendant.
With your External Components, you will be somewhat subject to RNG, at least until you’ve played the game for long enough to find basically every possible combination with good stat rolls.
In general, we recommend prioritizing components with the following stats:
Max Shield
Max HP
HP Recovery
DEF
Jayber’s Story in The First Descendant
A utility-type dealer who uses turrets. Summons turrets for assault and recovery, respectively.
Are geniuses born or made? A natural engineer, there are many hypotheses about the origin of Jayber’s ability to wield Arche specialized in electronic warfare. One hypothesis claims that the infectious disease he suffered during his childhood stimulated his cerebral cortex, leading to a dramatic increase in intelligence. Another one claims that the drug administered to treat the infectious disease was actually an experiment conducted by the Magisters to mass produce Arche. Despite the unfounded rumours that continue to go around to this day, he himself had no desire to learn the truth. The reason being, as merely a unit in the war, the origin of his ability was unimportant to him.
For Jayber, who was born in the infectious disease isolation ard, the life support device that let him sleep comfortably and sang nursery rhymes to him was practically his parent. Jayber grew up having a deep connection with this life support device. WHen he turned 10 years old, he was able to modify the device himself to connect to an external network and study the world. The moment Jayber connected to the real world, he was able to understand why the life support device was against connecting to the network. The world was not the happy place that Jayber had dreamed of. It was constantly being plagued by invaders called the Vulgus and threatening entities called the Colossi. He was raised by the Magisters to become a weapon of war, a Descendant with the power of Arche, to combat these threats.
After coming into contact with reality, Jayber gave up on his hoped and dreams; instead, he began to think of himself as a necessary unit for war. Even after becoming an official Descendant, this attitude did not change, and his teammates were no fans of this Descendant who was no different from a machine. However, none of this mattered to Jayber. Geniuses are neither born nor made. Because they, too, are just a unit.
