Throne and Liberty Daggers Daggers Beginner Build Guide

Welcome to the Throne and Liberty Daggers Beginner Build Guide.
In this guide we will explain how to create a simple but powerful Dagger build that is perfect for new or casual players. Our beginner builds are easier to create and play than our endgame builds (such as the Dagger & Crossbow build) because they have fewer essential skills and passives, and equipment that is generally easier to obtain.
It will take you considerably less time to set up and learn to play this build than builds intended for endgame, so this is the ideal starting point if you’re quite new to the game, or if you only intend to play the game casually and don’t want to put much time or effort into hard PvE dungeons or PvP combat.

Dagger Beginner Build Setup for Throne and Liberty
In this section, we will explain the important components of the build, such as stats, passives, skills and equipment for our Dagger Beginner Build in Throne and Liberty.
Weapons Main vs Off-hand
Main-hand: Dagger (View all Dagger skills)
Off-hand: Crossbow (View all Crossbow skills)
Our main hand weapon is the Daggers, and our off-hand weapon is the Crossbow. Our off-hand passives stay active even if we are using the Daggers. The Daggers provide good damage with lots of critical chance & damage buffs, while the Crossbow provides some ranged ability and a couple of passive damage boosts.
If you’re just starting out then you can equip whichever Daggers and Crossbow you find, and keep replacing them with better ones that you find when levelling up. You don’t need specific weapons for this build to work, but we will include a more precise equipment section later in the guide for players who already reached maximum level and want to put a bit more time into optimising their gear.
Stats
The most important stat for the Daggers Beginner Build is Dexterity which improves your Critical Chance and Critical Damage. The Daggers are focused around crits more than any other weapon, so we’ll be focusing entirely on Dexterity for this build.
Aim to have a stat distribution similar to that listed below, but don’t worry if you can’t get all of it yet:
10 Strength
44 Dexterity
10 Wisdom
10 Perception
However, if you’re struggling to stay alive you can put some points in Strength instead of just focusing on Dexterity – this will improve your HP and make it easier to survive.
Defense Skill
Each build in Throne and Liberty can slot one defense skill. Because we are using a Dagger and Crossbow we have a choice between two defensive skills:
Daggers – Block Blade
Crossbow – Sustaining Roll
For this build, we are using Block Blade, which allows you to hide after defending against a Fury Attack, gaining extra Mana Regen and a guaranteed Critical Hit.
Active Skills
Below are explanations of the skills we are using for the Dagger and Crossbow Build.
Dagger Skills
Cleaving Moonlight – Deals three times damage to any near enemy.
Shadow Strike – Move behind a target and deal damage.
Inject Venom – Adds Weaken: Poison to all attacks for 6 seconds. The poison lasts for 6 seconds, deals damage over time, stops health regeneration and can be stacked up to 10 times.
Brutal Incision – Deals heavy damage. Increases Critical Hit Chance if the target is at or below 50% Health.
Black Wind Spirit – Deal damage to all enemies within a 4-metre radius. Enemies whom you’ve poisoned are also hit with two additional attacks.
Camouflage Cloak – Become Hidden for 10 seconds. The first attack while Hidden is a guaranteed Critical Hit.
Passive Skills
Below you can find an explanation of the passive skills for our setup.
Passives augment your build in various ways, making your attacks more powerful, improving your survivability or providing other helpful effects.
Dagger Passives
Assassin’s Step – Defeating your target increases your Movement Speed for 6 seconds. At night, the duration is 9 seconds.
Assassin’s Instincts – Increases your Melee, Ranged and Magic Critical Hit Chance.
Shadow Walker – After using a Movement Skill, your Ranged and Magic Evasion increases by 690 for 6 seconds. You also gain 14 Damage Reduction for the duration.
Vicious Fangs – Increases your Melee, Ranged and Magic Critical Hit Chance when attacking a target inflicted by your Poison.
Wrathful Edge – Increases your Critical Hit Damage by 21%.
Crossbow Passives
Opportunist – Applying a Weakening effect to an enemy reduces your skill cooldowns. Hitting a Weakened enemy increases the duration of all Weakening effects on the target.
Nature’s Power – When you use a Movement Skill, your damage bonus is increased by 33% for 3 seconds.
Piercing Strike – Increases your damage bonus.
Skills and Passives Upgrade Priority
Upgrading Skills and Passives in the right order will make combat a lot easier in Throne and Liberty. However, it also takes quite a long because you need so-called “Growth Stones” to upgrade and the higher quality ones are difficult to get. Therefore it is important to plan ahead which skills you want to upgrade first.
Note: You unlock higher level skills already in a higher quality such as Rare or Epic. So you won’t have to upgrade all of the Skills.

Equipment for the Daggers Beginner Build
When you are leveling up this build don’t worry too much about gear. The gear itself only becomes important after level 50. Therefore make sure to simply equip whatever you find and focus on leveling up your skills. Make sure to read our Throne and Liberty Equipment Guide to understand the basics of how gear works. Additionally, we also recommend reading the Throne and Liberty Gear Enchanting Guide to get an understanding of how you can improve your gear and why it is important.
Please note that since this is a beginner build, the gear mentioned below is just a guide – you can get by just fine if you decide to use a different gear setup than what is mentioned here. You can click on the items in the tables below to find out more about them.
How To Obtain the Gear
The easiest way to get the beginner gear is to do as many daily quests as possible. That way you can farm “Contract Coins”. You can pick up daily quests in Kastleton at the Contract Manager Noss at the townsquare. The Daily quests often reward you with things like:
Quality Lithograph: Weapons
Quality Lithograph: Accessories
Quality Lithograph: Armor
With these Lithographs you can then craft your starter gear! Sometimes the Contract Manager might not have the Lithographs, you can try to refresh the page and new ones will pop up.
Contract Coin Merchant: Next to Noss you can also find the Contract Coin Merchant Kail who will sell you these Lithographs directly (scroll down to the bottom of his list) for 100 Contract Coin each. However, we recommend just doing the dailies to get the Quality Lithographs because the coins are better spent on other items.
Now you can simply move up the stairs and you will find the Weapon Crafter Ragere, Armor Crafter Rachel and Accessories Crafter Marianne. With the green Quality Lithographs you can craft any of the green items they offer. Of course, you will need some crafting materials, but you often get those by simply doing the dailies. Otherwise simply click on the crafting materials icon and click on “how to acquire” and it will show you where to find them.

How to Play the Daggers Beginner Build in TL
Now that we have explained how to create the Daggers Beginner DPS build, we will cover the best ways to play the build to get the best out of it, including combos and general tips.
Dagger Crossbow Build Combos & Rotation
While you can play the Dagger Crossbow build on a casual level by just using random skills or spamming the same skill over and over again, the more skilled player will make the most of their skills and passives, many of which can be used in a certain order to buff the final damage output of each skill – these are known as combos.
The Daggers don’t have strong weapon combos in the same way as some other weapons like the Greatsword. The most important thing to learn is to use Inject Venom to poison your target and make use of the Vicious Fangs passive, which increases your Critical Hit chance when attacking foes that you have poisoned. Therefore it is often a good idea to open your attacks on a target with Inject Venom, and try to ensure that your targets are poisoned as much as possible – this build works best when attacking poisoned targets!
Dagger and Crossbow Tips & Tricks
Don’t focus too much on gear early on. Gear farming only becomes important after you hit max level.
Get equipment that gives you extra Max Health or Dexterity stats at the beginning.
Always keep track of your cooldowns, especially on the high cooldown Skills.
