Welcome to our Hunter Ranger Build for Solasta II.
The Hunter is a Ranger subclass in Solasta II. This guide will explain how to create a powerful Hunter Ranger build, including the best weapons, armour, spells, ability distribution, skills, and more.

Ranger Class Overview – Solasta II
Rangers are the wanderers of Solasta’s wilderness, trained survivalists, fierce in battle, and stealthy hunters. Excellent trackers and archers, they also have some spellcasting ability.
Here is what your Ranger will start the game with at Level 1:
- Weapon Proficiencies – Simple Weapons, Martial Weapons
- Armour Proficiencies – Light Armour, Medium Armour, Shields
- Saving Throw Proficiencies – Strength & Dexterity
- Smithing – You can craft arrows and bolts with Smith’s Tools
- Favored Enemy – Gain advantage on ability checks against a selected creature type, and additional damage against them equal to your knowledge level.
- Natural Explorer – You are adept at living and traveling in a certain type of terrain, choosing from Forest, Mountain, Swamp, Grassland, Desert, Arctic or Coast.
Hunter Subclass – Solasta II
Emulating the Hunter archetype means accepting your place as a bulwark between civilization and the terrors of the wilderness. As you walk the Hunter’s path, you learn specialized techniques for fighting the threats you face.
This section explains what your Hunter Ranger will unlock as they progress.
Level 3
- Hunter’s Prey – Choose one of the following hunting specialities:
- Colossus Slayer – Your tenacity can wear down the most potent of foes, When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, the creature takes an extra 1d8 damage if it’s below its hit point maximum. You can deal this extra damage only once per turn.
- Giant Killer – When a large or larger creature within one cell of you hits or misses you with an attack, you can use your reaction to attack that creature immediately after its attack, provided that you can see the creature.
- Horde Breaker – Once in each of your turns when you down an opponent, you can make another attack with the same weapon against a different creature.
Level 7
- Defensive Tactics – Choose one of the following options:
- Escape the Horde – Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.
- Multiattack Defense – When a creature hits you with an attack, you gain a +4 bonus to AC against all subsequent attacks made by that creature for the rest of the turn.
- Steel Will – Advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
Level 11
- Multiattack – Choose one of the Multiattack options:
- Volley – You can use your action to make a ranged attack against any number of creatures within 2 cells of a point you can see within your weapon’s range. You must have ammunition for each target, as normal, and you make a separate attack roll for each target.
- Whirlwind Attack – You can use your action to make a melee attack against any number of creatures within 1 cell of you, with a separate attack roll for each.
Level 15
- Superior Hunter’s Defense – Select one of these defensive options:
- Stand Against the Tide – When an enemy misses you with a melee attack, you can use your reaction to force that enemy to attack another creature of your choice.
- Evasion – When you are subjected to an area of effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you instead take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, and only half damage if you fail.
- Uncanny Dodge – When an attacker that you can see hits you with an attack, you can use your reaction to halve the attack’s damage.

Hunter Ranger Build Levelling Up Guide – Solasta II
In this section, we’ll explain what your Hunter Ranger will unlock at each level and the best choices to make when levelling up.
Level 2
- Fighting Style – You can choose one Fighting Style:
- Archery – +2 bonus to Attack Rolls with ranged weapons
- Defense – While wearing armour, gain a +1 bonus to Armour Class
- Dueling – When wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.
- Two-Weapon Fighting – When wielding two melee weapons, you add your ability modifier to the damage of the second attack.
- Spellcasting – You can cast spells and cantrips from the Ranger spell list. You will unlock more powerful spells as you level up your Ranger.
Level 3
- Primeval Awareness – Detects the presence of certain creature types.
- Subclass – Select which subclass your Ranger will use. Choose the Hunter subclass.
- Hunter’s Prey – Choose one of the following hunting specialities:

- Defensive Tactics – Choose one of the following options:
- Escape the Horde – Opportunity attacks against you are made with disadvantage.
- Multiattack Defense – When a creature hits you with an attack, you gain a +4 bonus to AC against all subsequent attacks made by that creature for the rest of the turn.

- Hide in Plain Sight – Create camouflage for yourself, granting a +10 Stealth bonus when you are standing against a wall.
