Best Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build – Forgotten Wolven Armour Build
In this guide, we will share a powerful build for The Witcher 3: Remastered, focusing on the Forgotten Wolven Armour set. This armour set is based on the armour Henry Cavill wears in The Witcher Netflix series. As usual, the build works on any difficulty and performs well in New Game Plus.
While it will take a long time to get all the items to perfect the build (unless you are already high level), we have included a progression table in the Skills section so you can gradually create the build as you level up.

We’ll now cover the basics of how this build works and how to play it.
Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build Overview

This Witcher 3: Remastered Henry Cavill Build uses the Forgotten Wolven Armour set bonus, which makes your Yrden and Aard signs stronger. When the armour is fully upgraded, Geralt’s Aard sign deals more damage to enemies affected by Yrden. We’ll use the Piercing Cold mutation to greatly increase Aard damage and cause it to freeze enemies.
This is a bit similar to our dedicated Aard Build. But in that build we used the Griffin Armour and focused purely on buffing the Aard sign to be as OP as possible, whereas in this build we will focus on a more balanced playstyle that still makes full use of swords.
You can see how the build works in the How to Play section.
Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build Armour and Weapons

As mentioned above, we’ll be using the Forgotten Wolven Armour set. You can craft the basic version at Level 20, but to get the full bonuses, you’ll need to upgrade it to the Mastercrafted and Grandmaster tiers.
Before you can get the Forgotten Wolven Armour, use anything you find in loot or buy sets from merchants, like the Nilfgaardian Armour set available from Crow’s Perch.
How to Get the Forgotten Wolven Armour in The Witcher 3: Remastered
You need to craft the Forgotten Wolven Armour set, but first you must find the diagrams.
The diagrams come in 3 tiers:
- Basic – Level 20
- Mastercrafted – Level 32
- Grandmaster – Level 40
To get the Basic diagrams, go to Devil’s Pit in Velen and do the quest In the Eternal Fire’s Shadow. We won’t put any quest spoilers here, but when you complete the quest, you’ll get the diagrams as a reward.
You can find the Mastercrafted and Grandmaster diagrams in Kaer Morhen. Search the bookshelves for Osmund’s Notes. Reading the notes gives you the rest of the diagrams.
To craft the armour, you must hire Willis in Crow’s Perch. For the swords, see Hattori in Novigrad. You’ll need to complete a quest for each to unlock their master crafting service.

There are two ways to get more skill points: each time you level up, you will receive one, and the first time you interact with a newly discovered Place of Power, you’ll also receive one.
Important: Remember to slot your skills to enable them! You’ll unlock more slots as you level up. When you can, get an extra stat bonus by rearranging your skills so they are all slotted next to a matching mutagen (applies only to red, blue, and green skills).
Mutation for the Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build

To unlock the Mutation system, you’ll need the Blood and Wine DLC and to complete the quest called Turn and Face the Strange.
We recommend the Piercing Cold mutation. Unlocking it takes 6 Greater Blue Mutagens and 6 spare skill points.
The Piercing Cold Mutation gives Aard a chance to freeze enemies (the chance scales with your Adrenaline Points, starting at 30%). Unfrozen enemies take extra damage from the Aard sign instead, and you can also insta-kill enemies who are knocked down and frozen at the same time.
Potions and Bombs for the Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build
Here are the best Potions and Bombs for the Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build:
- Heals you whenever you deal damage.
- Gives massive healing from the AoE damage Geralt deals with Aard and Yrden.
- Find the recipe in a chest on the riverbank south of Ransacked Village in White Orchard.
- Increases your Sign Intensity for a short time.
- Heals Geralt over time.
Superior White Raffard’s Decoction
- Instantly heals Geralt for a large amount of HP.
- Despite its name, this behaves like a normal potion rather than a Decoction.
- Significantly increases Geralt’s Stamina Recovery.
- Helps with the rapid Sign casting required for this build, particularly when you’re missing items or skills.
- The basic version is already in your inventory at the start of the game – most new players overlook this very helpful item.
- Freezes enemies within the bomb’s radius.
- Fits well with the Piercing Cold Mutation.
Don’t worry if you don’t have all of these right away. The basic and Enhanced versions of the potions are almost as good as the Superior version.
How to Play the Witcher 3 Henry Cavill Build
Early-Game
- Start by focusing mostly on melee combat. Remember to dodge often to activate the
Muscle Memory skill, and chain four fast or strong attacks to get the
Three Strikes damage bonus. - Weave Signs like Aard, Igni and Quen into combat.
- I recommend fully exploring White Orchard (the tutorial area) because you’ll find a lot of alchemy recipes and ingredients. Crafting these early will help later.
- You can use any armour or weapons you find at this stage. Some merchants tend to sell strong armour sets like the Temerian Armour from Bram in White Orchard, or the Nilfgaard Armour from the Baron’s quartermaster in Crow’s Perch. But these are expensive and not essential.
Mid-Game
- Sword attacks remain your strongest combat option, but as you level up your sign skills, they will get better and better.
- Use the
Tawny Owl potion if you need extra stamina recovery. It’s one of the most overlooked potions in The Witcher 3. - Craft the basic version of the Forgotten Wolven Armour at Level 20, then upgrade it at Level 32 and 40.
Late-Game
- Your Signs (particularly the Yrden and Aard combo) will be much stronger once you’ve unlocked most Skills, got the Piercing Cold Mutation, and upgraded the Forgotten Wolven Armour.
- Your Yrden AoE is now much larger and buffs Geralt’s Sign Intensity, while also making enemies within it more vulnerable to Aard.
- Try to ensure Geralt and the enemies are within Yrden, then spam alternate Aard (the 360-degree version).
- Your sword attacks are also still a very viable option.
- Once you have the
Entanglement Glyphword on your chest armour, start combat with Alternate Yrden, which automatically creates multiple regular Yrdens to buff Geralt’s sign power and debuff enemies. - Once you get the Piercing Cold Mutation, your Aard will deal more damage and freeze enemies, instantly killing enemies who are knocked down and frozen simultaneously.
