Kang Taeshik Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive

Here is an overview of Kang Taeshik’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.

Basic Skills

Sanctuary

Taeshik swings his daggers quickly.

This is Taeshik’s basic light attack, activated with left click. You can chain them together to use different attack animations. The third and fourth attacks in the chain are rapid flurries of multiple dagger strikes.

Instant Kill

After slashing while spinning, Taeshik strikes down in an X shape.

This is Taeshik’s heavy attack – press C to activate it. It is more powerful than his basic attack. Since heavy attacks in ARISE OVERDRIVE have a very small cooldown, you can use this very frequently as your main source of DPS.

Dagger Toss

Taeshik throws his dagger twice.

Press Q to activate Dagger Toss. This allows you to deal some damage from range, so it’s useful when you currently can’t reach the target due to an ongoing AoE attack or some other reason.

Tracking

Taeshik teleports behind the enemy and unleashes a flurry of strikes. This skill can be used up to 2 times in a row.

Press E to activate Tracking. This is a great skill for quickly closing the gap to an enemy, and works especially well when combined with armour like the Assassin set that increases Taeshik’s damage on back attacks.

Special Skills

Consecutive Slicing

Taeshik teleports to the enemy and quickly slices them. Using this skill temporarily increases Taeshik’s damage when attacking from behind.

Storm Raven is a Support Skill, which means it is only available when Taeshik is supporting Sung Jinwoo, not when you are playing as him directly. It can be used when Sung Jinwoo uses a QTE Skill or when nearby enemies have a Stagger effect on them.

Assault

QTE Skill. Taeshik jumps out of the air, slashes downward and throws a dagger as he steps back. Weakness Break is inflicted on hit targets, and Taeshik gains Back Attack Damage Increase for a long period of time.

Taeshik automatically uses Assault when you switch to him with Left Shift when prompted. Make sure you are in a good position to make the attack connect before making the switch.

Stealth Slash

Synchro Chain. Taeshik delivers a series of rapid slashes to enemies in front of himself.

Stealth Slash is Taeshik’s Synchro Chain skill. He uses it when you press T (when prompted) to activate your Hunter party’s Synchro Chain; all Hunters in the party will then activate their Synchro Chain at the same time.

Camouflage

Ultimate Skill. Taeshik cloaks himself in darkness and hacks at the enemy with superhuman speed. The Critical Hit damage he deals to targets inflicted with Weakness Break significantly increases.

Press R when your ultimate is charged to activate Camouflage. Try to use it soon after the Assault QTE skill so that your ultimate benefits from the Weakness Break debuff.

Unique Skills

Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.

Back Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.

Deflect Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.

How to Play Kang Taeshik

Kang Taeshik is almost completely focused on single-target melee DPS, with no AoE skills and only one fully ranged skill. He’s ideal for DPS against a boss that you can frequently reach in melee, but in other situations you should switch to a different hunter in your party.

Kang Taeshik benefits from landing back attacks on enemies (attacking them from behind), so it makes sense to play into this as much as possible by equipping items that provide further boosts for back attacks, and ensure you attack enemies from behind as much as possible.

Taeshik’s Overdrive quickly hacks nearby enemies and increases his Critical Hit damage against targets with the Weakness Break debuff. Weakness Break can be inflicted by hitting enemies with Dagger Toss, Instant Kill or Tracking.

To recharge Taeshik’s Overdrive, attack enemies from behind.

Kang Taeshik Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive

Slao Kang Taeshik Skill Upgrades

As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.

It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.

In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
