Welcome to the Magicka Necromancer Build PvP “Horror” for ESO (Elder Scrolls Online). Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. This Magicka Necromancer Build both has an optimized version for Cyrodiil and one for Battlegrounds.
With the Magicka Necromancer PVP Build, we are currently using Necropotence, Clever Alchemist, Kjalnar’s Nightmare, and the Destructive Impact set. The Clever Alchemist set and the Master Destruction staff boost our Spell Damage by a lot and the Necropotence set will increase our Magicka thanks to our summons. Kjalnar is a nice set that can stun or deal damage to the enemy.
This allows us to get high burst damage, everything evolves around getting your Spell damage as high as possible and then lining up your burst with Kjalnar’s Nightmare set, Blighted Blastbones, Destructive Clench and your Ultimate.
- Necromancer Class
- Light Armor
- Destruction Staff + Resto
- Cyrodiil & Battlegrounds Spec

Slot 2: Blighted Blastbones | Slot 2: Radiating Regeneration |
Slot 3: Destructive Clench | Slot 3: Dampen Magic |
Slot 4: Elemental Susceptibility | Slot 4: Summoner’s Armor |
Slot 5: Skeletal Arcanist | Slot 5: Spirit Guardian |
Ultimate: Ice Comet | Ultimate: Glacial Colossus |
Skills explanation:
- Degeneration: Strong damage over time effect and also gives us Major Sorcery, increasing Spell Damage.
- Blighted Blastbones: Huge impact damage, you can combine this with other abilities because of its delayed impact.
- Shock Clench: Your main spammable, deals impact damage and AoE splash damage. Also boosts your Spell damage because of the Master Destro Staff that we use.
- Elemental Susceptibility: Applies Major Breach to your enemies, decreasing their armor. Also adds Status Effect damage to enemies.
- Skeletal Arcanist: Increases your penetration and also deals damage.
- Ice Comet: Deals massive damage on impact.
- Resistant Flesh: Your main burst heal if you need it.
- Radiating Regeneration: Your heal over time has to be active always.
- Dampen Magic: Your shield, keep it up to bolster incoming damage!
- Summoner’s Armor: Applies the Major Resolve buff to you and decreases the cost of summons.
- Spirit Guardian: One of your main healing tools.
- Glacial Colossus: Your offensive ultimate, deals a lot of damage and applies the Major Vulnerability debuff to the enemy increasing their damage taken.
Scribing Skills
The ESO Scribing System offers plenty of adjustable skills to add to our build. The scribing skill listed below can increase our survivability a bit.
Important: Please read here how to get Grimoires, Focus Scripts, Signature Scripts and Affix Scripts for the ESO Scribing system.
Base Scribing Skill useful to our build:
- Mages Guild: Ulfsild’s Contingency (Warding Contingency)
Warding Contingency
Warding Contingency helps our survivability. You can place a rune on yourself and the rune will activate once you use a skill. This is great because it essentially pre-buffs us with an extra shield and damage mitigation for the start of combat.
- Focus Script
- Signature Script
- Affix Script
Champion Points Magicka Necromancer PVP Build
Below you can find the Champion Points setup for this build. Work your way from top to bottom in your allocation. For more information on Champion Points, please visit the Champion Points Overview Page on ESO-Hub.com.
Important:
- Warfare Tree: This tree gives you a mix between damage, healing and damage mitigation.
- Fitness Tree: This tree gives you extra health, sustain and defensive buffs.
- Craft Tree: This tree is mostly optional, nothing really “impacts” combat, therefore you can pick whatever you prefer, or use the preset below.
- Perks: Hovering over each perk will give you insights into what it does. Presets are also provided for each of the allocations below.

Important Info for Magicka Necromancer Build PvP
Buff-food
Bewitched Sugar Skulls is the most optimal buff food but can be a bit pricy.
Bewitched Sugar Skulls
(Max Health, Max Magicka, Max Stamina, Health Recovery)
Or you can also use the much cheaper priced and almost equally strong:
Longfin pasty with Melon Sauce
(Max Health, Max Magicka, Max Stamina)
Mundus Stone
We are using The Mage Mundus Stone with this setup to further increase our max magicka. Alternatively, you could also use THe Atronach to increase your magicka recovery. You can learn more about all the other Mundus Stones on the Mundus Stone Overview Page.
The Mage Mundus Stone – Increased Max Magicka
or
The Atronach Mundus Stone – Increased Magicka Recovery (Use this Mundus if you have sustain issues)
Race
All Magicka-based races work with this setup. More about each race can be found on the racial overview page.
High Elf
Breton
Dark Elf
Argonian
Khajiit
Orc
Potions
I do recommend using Tri-Stat Potions as we really need all Stamina and Magicka we can get, to help with sustain and also blocking.
Tri-Stat Potion
(Health, Stamina, Magicka)
(Bugloss, Columbine, Dragonthorn)
Passives
- Grave Lord: Reusable Parts, Death Knell, Dismember, Rapid Rot
- Bone Tyrant: Death Gleaning, Disdain Harm, Health Avarice, Last Gasp
- Living Death: Curative Curse, Near-Death Experience, Corpse Consumption, Undead Confederate
- Destruction Staff: Tri Focus, Penetrating Magic, Elemental Force, Ancient Knowledge, Destruction Expert
- Restoration Staff: Essence Drain, Restoration Expert, Cycle of Life, Absorb, Restoration Master
- Light Armor: Grace, Evocation, Spell Warding, Prodigy, Concentration
- Heavy Armor: Resolve, Constitution, Juggernaut, Revitalize, Rapid Mending
- Mages Guild: Mage Adept, Everlasting Magic, Magicka Controller, Might of the Guild
- Assault: Continuous Attack, Reach, Combat Frenzy
- Support: Magicka Aid, Combat Medic, Battle Resurrection
- Alchemy: Medicinal Use
- Undaunted: Undaunted Command, Undaunted Mettle
- Racial: All
Please make sure not to forget the Medicinal Use passive from the Alchemy tree, it is one of the most important passives that will allow you to keep your Potions active a 100% of the time.
Resource Management Magcro PVP Build
Heavy Attacks from the Shock staff or the Resto staff both return resources. Depending on what you do, if you just focus on Magicka return, do the Heavy Attack on the Resto Staff because of the Cycle of Life passive.
Spirit Guardian heals us and also keeps the Undead Confederate passive up all the time.
Potions are an important tool, make sure to have the alchemist Medicinal Use passive, to increase potion duration. Always activate the potion on the backbar, because Clever Alchemist set is only active on our back bar!
Magicka Recovery glyphs are another tool that we use. Currently, I run 1 Magicka Recovery on my jewelry, if you want, you can increase the amount of Magicka Recovery glyphs.
- Heavy Attacks
- Undead Confederate
- Potions
- Magicka Recovery glyph
Combos & How to Play
In this section I want you to give a quick rundown so you can understand how to deal damage and how to heal/defense.
Damage & Combo
Elemental Susceptibility has to be placed on the enemy to increase your damage against them. It also adds Status Effects to the enemy, dealing extra damage. The ability also has no cost.
To pump up your damage as high as possible you want to:
- Place the Degeneration skill on the enemy to get damage over time effect and Major Sorcery, which boosts your Spell Damage by 20%.
- Have your Skeletal Arcanist up to gain extra damage and penetration.
- Activate your back bar Weapon Damage enchantment with a Resto Light Attack.
After that, you want to try to line up the Blighted Blastbones, weave Destructive Clench and activate your Ultimate Ice Comet. If these all impact at the same time most enemies will die.
Healing & Defense
Spirit Guardian is your main heal, this Ghost has to be up ALL THE TIME. It also gives you a 10% damage mitigation boost,
If you take too much damage you want to go to your sword & board bar to block and heal with the Resistant Flesh skill, this will give you a huge burst heal and also grant you extra resistance.
Radiating Regeneration will also provide you with nice healing over time.
Battlegrounds Setup Magicka Necromancer PVP Build
We are going full Magicka Recovery on the jewelry on this setup in the Battlegrounds, because we need more sustain.
