Baek Yoonho Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive

Arise Overdrive Baek Yoonho

Here is an overview of Baek Yoonho’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.

Basic Skills

White Flame Strike

Yoonho attacks by combining his punches and kicks. When in Beast form, damage dealt to targets inflicted with Bleed increases.

White Flame Strike is Baek Yoonho’s basic attack. You can activate it at any time by left-clicking. Chaining this skill together several times will eventually culminate in a powerful kick that knocks your target over.

White Flame Pummel

Heavy Attack. Yoonho strikes quickly with his fists and feet and then performs a powerful upward strike. When in Beast form, damage dealt to targets inflicted with Bleed increases.

Activate White Flame Pummel by pressing C. You deliver three heavy strikes; the third one is an uppercut that can knock foes to the ground.

Ferocious Spirit

After charging towards the front, Yoonho punches upward with his fist enveloped in white flames. Yoonho then leaps and gathers his strength and strikes down.

Press Q to activate Ferocious Spirit. With this skill, you send an enemy into the air and then slam them to the ground, which will stun most smaller enemies.

White Flame Gale Kick

After engulfing his feet in white flames, Yoonho leaps to attack. After leaping, he strikes down with a powerfully condensed white flame, decreasing the target’s Defense.

Press E to activate White Flame Gale Kick. This skill is a spinning kick that can hit enemies multiple times and serves as a decent AoE option to hit enemies all around you.

Special Skills

White Flame Storm Kick

Yoonhoo spins once and performs a powerful downward strike with a foot enveloped in white flames. When he attacks the enemy, their Defense decreases temporarily.

White Flame Storm Kick is Baek Yoonho’s Support skill, so it can only be used when he is supporting Sung Jinwoo, not when you are playing as Yoonho directly. The skill becomes available when Sung Jinwoo uses Deflect Combo Attack, or when an Elemental Status Effect is active on nearby enemies. It has a 90 second cooldown.

Bottomless Pit

QTE Skill. Yoonho rushes forward, performs a spinning kick, spins around once, then finishes with a powerful downward strike. Increases team members’ Elemental Chain damage.

Yoonho’s QTE skill is automatically activated when you switch to him when prompted with Left Shift. Ensure you are in a suitable spot to hit an enemy with the attack before you make the switch.

White Flame Palm Strike

Synchro Chain. Yoonho strikes upward with his white-flame-covered fist, then gathers the power of the white flames to slam his leg down.

Press T to activate your Synchro Chain when prompted. All Hunters in your party will perform their Synchro Chain skills simultaneously, usually resulting in a big burst of extra damage.

Truth: White Flame Strike

Ultimate Skill. Yoonho releases his max power within controllable limits, delivering a concentrated strike of white flame in front of him. Decreases the Defence of enemies hit.

Press R to activate Yoonho’s ultimate when it is fully charged. You deal a very strong melee attack to the target, knocking them over.

Unique Skills

Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.

Back Dash Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.

Deflect Combo Attack

When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.

How to Play Baek Yoonho

Baek Yoonho is a tough melee fighter who can transform into a beast form. In human form he fights with his fists and feet, dishing out strong punches and kicks that can knock over multiple enemies.

When he is in Beast Form, Yoonho’s skills change to become more ferocious, and he instead attacks with his claws. When his Beast Form expires, Yoonhoo always perform’s his Beast Form ultimate before transforming back into a human. Therefore, it is typically best to spend as much time in Beast form as possible.

To transform into a Beast, you must fill up Yoonho’s Overdrive gauge and press V to activate it. Landing any attack in human form will slightly fill up his Overdrive Gauge.

It should also be noted that Yoonhoo deals Light damage in Human form and Dark damage in Beast form – you can get them to overlap to cause a strong tick of Chaos Damage.

Once you’ve crafted Yoonho’s exclusive weapon, the Suppressed White Tiger’s Soul gloves, he gains a small window of immortality if he takes lethal damage in Beast Form (once per battle) and his damage increases the closer he is to zero HP.

Baek Yoonho Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive

Baek Yoonho Skill Upgrades

As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.

It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.

In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.

Baek Yoonho Best Equipment – SL Arise Overdrive

We will now review the best equipment available for Baek Yoonho in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, including the best weapons and the best armour & artefacts. To help you progress through the lengthy level up and equipment grind, we have included setups for the early, mid and endgame.

Baek Yoonho Best Weapons

The table below shows you the best weapon progression from early, mid and endgame. We have not included every upgrade tier along the journey, just the most important milestones so you can see which path to take and what benefits the most important weapons offer for Baek Yoonho.

Weapon Description
earlygame gauntlet SL ARISE OVERDRIVE

Steel Gauntlet (D)

To get the D-Tier Steel Gauntlet, start with the basic E-Tier Gauntlet and upgrade it twice to reach D-Tier. Then craft the Steel Gauntlet.

This weapon provides no special effects, but gives a boost to Yoonho’s Attack and Defense stats.

yoonho midgame weapon SL ARISE OVERDRIVE

Steel Gauntlet (B)

After crafting the D-Tier Steel Gauntlet, upgrade it twice to reach B-Tier.

This gives a further boost to Yoonho’s stats, but no additional effects. However, this item is a prerequisite for crafting Yoonho’s Exclusive Weapon.

yoonho endgame weapon SL ARISE OVERDRIVE

Suppressed White Tiger’s Soul (S)

Use your B-Tier Steel Gauntlet to craft Suppressed White Tiger’s Soul at B-Tier. Complete the three remaining upgrades as and when you can to reach S-Tier.

You now have a very strong bonus to your Attack and Defense ratings, and in Beast Form you gain extra damage output at low HP and brief immortality when you take lethal damage, once per battle.

This is by far the best weapon available for Baek Yoonho in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.

Baek Yoonho Best Armour & Artefact Sets

Here are our recommended armor/artefact sets for early game, mid game and late game.

Early Game Best Sets

In the early game, there aren’t many strong sets, so we just take whatever items we can get that will boost Yoonho’s damage output. The Apprentice Mage set gives us a modest boost to Attack and Critical Damage, which makes for a decent DPS boost. The Obsidian set gives a small boost to your Dark Damage while in Beast Form.

  • Armour Set: Apprentice Mage
    • [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack
    • [4 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
  • Obsidian Set:
    • [2 Items] Very slightly increases Dark damage
    • [4 Items] When the user deals Dark damage, there is a very small chance to apply the Haunt effect.

Mid Game Best Sets

High-Ranking Demon is a well-rounded set that boosts your attack and defense. This should help you out with the rather tricky bosses you’ll encounter around this time. Viridescent gives more damage boosts and slightly reduces your skill cooldowns.

  • Armour Set: High-Ranking Demon
    • [2 Items] Increases Attack and Defense
    • [4 Items] Using a Basic Skill triggers a moderate chance to grant Super Armor, and will increase the user’s Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time.
  • Jewelry Set: Viridescent
    • [2 Items] Very slightly reduces the user’s Basic Skill cooldown, but slightly increases their MP Consumption.
    • [4 Items] Using the Basic Skill very slightly increases the user’s Basic Skill Damage Increase effect for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.

Late Game Best Sets

We’re using the Corrupted Knight and Beast sets because they synergise quite well. The Beast Set boosts your Critical Damage and makes it so your Critical Chance ramps up over the course of a fight. Corrupted Knight boosts your Basic Skill damage whenever you land a Critical Hit. The Corrupted Knight set only requires 3 pieces, so we also equip the Burning Blessing Robe which grants a standalone bonus to Baek Yoonho’s Critical Hit Damage.

  • Armour Set: Corrupted Knight
    • [2 Items] Slightly Increases Attack and Critical Hit Rate
    • [3 Items] When the user lands an attack as a Critical Hit, it slightly increases their Basic Skill damage for a certain amount of time, stacking up to 10 times.
  • Standalone Armour Piece: Burning Blessing Robe
    • [1 Item] Using a Basic Skill twice increases Critical Hit Damage of team members, including user, for a long period of time.
  • Jewelry: Beast
    • [2 Items] Increases Critical Hit Damage
    • [4 Items] If a Critical Hit isn’t activated, the chance of the next attack landing as a Critical Hit increases very slightly, stacking up to 30 times.

Alternative Option: You can opt to use the Burning Curse Gloves instead of the Burning Blessing Robe. This gives a significant boost to your Attack, but it will also increase your damage taken, so it’s something to try if you’re quite comfortable staying alive as Baek Yoonhoo in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.
