Welcome to our Han Song-Yi Build Guide for Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE.
In this guide, we will explain how each one of Han Song-Yi’s skills work and how best to use them. We will provide more general tips for how to get the most out of Han Song-Yi.
We will also include a build guide for Han Song-Yi. While Hunter builds aren’t as widely customisable as Sung Jinwoo, you can still customise your equipment and level up your skills. We’ll walk you through these so you can find the best items and prioritise the best skill upgrades first.
Please note that this guide is currently a work in progress. It will be updated over the course of Arise Overdrive’s early access period and following on from the full launch of the game.

Han Song-Yi Skill Overview – SL Arise Overdrive
Here is an overview of Han Song-Yi’s skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE, and how to use them.
Basic Skills
Throwing Knife Slash
Song-Yi quickly swings her throwing knife.
This is Song-Yi’s basic attack, activated by left click. It is a chain of four attacks; the final attack in the chain is a spinning attack with a small AoE. Using Throwing Knife Slash slightly increases your attack damage.
Light
Song-Yi swings her throwing knives and simultaneously throws a few out in front of herself.
This is your heavy attack – press C to activate it. It deals a burst of damage to the target, and leaves a throwing knife on the ground where it lands.
Swift Flight
Song-Yi hurls out a bunch of throwing knives while stepping back.
Press Q to activate Swift Flight. You send out several throwing knives in front of you, which can hit several enemies with one attack (or they may all hit one enemy with a large hitbox, such as a boss).
Disperse
Song-Yi hurls throwing knives in all directions while spinning.
Press E to activate Disperse. You will throw the knives in all directions around you, making this a decent AoE skill. You will leave knives on the ground where they land.
Special Skills
Short Attack: Rakshasa
Song-Yi throws knives in all directions, then retrieves them. Her attacks inflict Poison on the enemy temporarily and decrease the enemy’s HP Recovery Rate.
This is a Support Skill, which means it is only available when Song-Yi is supporting Sung Jinwoo, not when you are playing as her directly. It can be used when Sung Jinwoo uses Chain Smash twice within 5 seconds, or when an Elemental Reaction effect is active on nearby enemies.
Quick Attack: Light
QTE Skill. Song-Yi rushes in quickly and slashes the enemy’s side while throwing out some knives.
Song-Yi automatically uses Quick Attack: Light when you switch to her with Left Shift when prompted. Make sure you are in a good position to make the attack connect before making the switch.
Quick Attack: Extinction
Synchro Chain. Song-Yi swiftly slashes forward, then throws throwing knives to attack the enemy.
This is Song-Yi’s Synchro Chain skill. She uses it when you press T (when prompted) to activate your Hunter party’s Synchro Chain; all Hunters in the party will then activate their Synchro Chain at the same time.
Rakshasa
Ultimate Skill. Throwing knives quickly circle around Han Song-Yi to hurt the enemy while Han Song-Yi throws even more out in front of her.
Press R when your ultimate is charged to activate Rakshasa. This deals decent AoE damage thanks to the daggers that swirl around you when you use it. You can usually get all of the thrown daggers to hit a boss if you use Rakshasa at point-blank range.
Unique Skills
Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Dash, the user can use Dash Combo Attack.
Back Dash Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Back Dash, the user can use Back Dash Combo Attack.
Deflect Combo Attack
When tapping the Basic Attack Button after performing Deflect, the user can use Deflect Combo Attack.
How to Play Han Song-Yi
Han Song-Yi is often one of the first Hunters unlocked, because she is a low-rank Hunter and therefore cheap and easy to recruit. Despite this, she is a pretty good single-target damage dealer, especially in the earlier parts of the game. She is surprisingly well balanced, with decent HP, Attack and Defence. However, her melee attacks have a very short reach because she attacks with tiny knives.
Most of Song-Yi’s skills involve leaving throwing daggers on the ground, which will remain visible for a time. This is linked to her Overdrive mechanic, which we will explain here.
Each throwing knife you leave on the ground gives you one stack of Umbral Weapon. Each stack will slightly increase the damage of your next Overdrive attack, stacking up to 15 times. At 15 stacks, you gain an additional damage bonus.
When you use your Overdrive, you gain Super Armour and retrieve all of the throwing knives, dealing extra damage. Each retrieved knife will also decrease the cooldown of her Basic Skills and QTE Skill (only applying to the Skill that placed each knife).
To summarise this, the one thing you must remember when playing as Han Song-Yi is to place plenty of knives before using her Overdrive. Ideally you need 15 – using Light, Swift Flight and Disperse once is normally enough to achieve this.
Han Song-Yi Skill Upgrade Priorities – SL Arise Overdrive

As mentioned above, Hunter skills in Solo Leveling: ARISE OVERDRIVE are split up into Basic Skills, Special Skills and Unique Skills. Of these, only Basic and Special Skills can be upgraded. The upgrades are done in groups – for example, you upgrade all Basic Skills at once, rather than upgrading the skills individually.
It is generally more important to upgrade the Basic Skills rather than the Special Skills, because the Basic Skills are used much more often (this group includes your Basic Attack, Heavy Attack and the skills activated by pressing Q or E). So if you have to make a choice between the two, always go for Basic Skills.
In practice, however, it is usually easier to upgrade them in a balanced manner, upgrading both groups to rank 2, then upgrading them both to rank 3, and so forth. This is because each tier is significantly more expensive than the last, so rushing a full set of Basic Skill upgrades usually isn’t possible unless you’ve played through the whole game without doing any upgrades.
