Soulframe Hues and Bestitch Guide – Transmog

As of Soulframe Preludes 11, players can change the appearance of their armour by dyeing it. You can also change the model of an equipped item to resemble that of another item you own (this is often referred to as transmogrification or “transmog” in other games).
When you first get started in Soulframe, many of these features are unavailable and, as usual, Soulframe doesn’t currently give you many clues about how to unlock them. In this guide, we’ll explain how to unlock and upgrade armour dyeing, and how to transmogrify your gear.
This guide is up to date with Soulframe Preludes 11.
How to Dye your Armour in Soulframe (Hues)
Before we get started, please note that there is one prerequisite for everything in this guide – you need to recruit Vermnia, the Brewer of Hues. She is the NPC who provides all of the services mentioned in this guide; without her, it is impossible to dye or transmogrify your armour.
When you have recruited Verminia, you can visit her in Nightfold to view the Hues system, which allows you to dye your armour. However, you’ll probably notice that she has a very limited selection of colours available, and none of them are very attractive. This is because you need to unlock more Hues. Each Hue is a palette of colours that Verminia can use to customise your armour.
How to Unlock New Hues
First, you need to obtain a Figment, which is a recipe for new Hues. As of the Preludes 11 release, you can get the following Figments:
- Verminia’s Brines – This is the default Figment already unlocked when you complete the Brewer of Hues Fable to recruit Verminia.
- Verminia’s Memoir – Unlocked by increasing your Bond with Verminia. Craft the other Figments to accomplish this.
- Rhiannon’s Frame – Purchase from the Kith of Kings faction Favours. Costs 100 Faction Standing.
- Epona’s Forest – Purchase from the Alca’s Children faction Favours. Costs 100 Faction Standing.
- Sigil – Purchase from the Silent Rose faction Favours. Costs 100 Faction Standing.
When you’ve obtained a Figment, visit Verminia and select the Brew Hues button. This will bring up a menu that lists all of your obtained Figments. Select a Figment to preview the required items for crafting.
Crafting the Hues requires an assortment of the new plants added in Preludes 11. Different plants tend to grow in specific habitats, so keep exploring a wide variety of areas to find them all (such as forests, grassland, hills, coasts, riversides, wastes and different dungeon types).
When you’ve found all of the required plants, return to Verminia and craft the Hue. This will use up the specified ingredients and cost a modest amount of Dracs. You should now have access to some new colours for armour dyeing.
How to Transmogrify Armour in Soulframe (Bestitch)
Verminia also allows you to completely change the appearance of armour to match another one that you own (or to be invisible). Many other games call this Transmog, but Soulframe calls it Bestitching.
Before you can do any Bestitching, you need to obtain some Moonsteel Threads, a special currency that is only used for Bestitching. The only way to obtain them currently is to buy them from Avakot’s Gots for 15 Arcs each (you might have some available already, though). Arcs are a premium currency in Soulframe, but there’s no regular way to obtain them right now. The developers sometimes add them to all active player accounts to facilitate testing. You should have at least 50 available from the first time you log in.
Anyway, once you have at least one Moonsteel Thread, go to Verminia and click on one of the thread icons next to the dye colours. This will show you a list of all owned armours for that slot. You can now choose an armour to change its appearance to. This is only cosmetic, and will not change the stats of the item. When you’re satisfied, click Bestitch to confirm the change, which will cost 1 Moonsteel Thread.
That’s all! You can now use a combination of Hues and Bestitching to customise your character’s outfit however you like.
