Better BG Sounds (2.3)
I created this addon with a simple yet essential goal: to improve audio quality and clarity during PvP matches.
The game’s default audio feedback for combat events can be quite confusing, mostly due to two factors: first, the lack of an exclusive and distinct sound for delivering a killing blow; second, and most importantlyTHE MEDALS!
In Battlegrounds, you get flooded with medals for almost everything you dowhether it’s getting kills, assists, capturing objectives, or even just landing a critical hit. Aside from cluttering the game’s audio, this constant noise makes it hard to distinguish your actual kills from simple assists. Instead of staying focused on the fight, you are constantly forced to look away and check the chat’s killfeed just to know what happened.
To solve this, BetterBGSounds completely silences the annoying medal sounds and introduces a customizable, volume-boosted sound effect strictly for killing blows. Now, you will know instantly and clearly whenever you eliminate your target!
Cyrodiil & Alliance War Functionality:
Please note that BetterBGSounds also works in Cyrodiil. However, because Cyrodiil’s server code sometimes registers overall proximity credits alongside actual killing blows, you might hear the audio trigger for certain targets you only assisted, occasionally with a slight delay due to server latency. This is a known behavior that also affects other major PvP addons like KillCounter, which tracks general kills separately from pure killing blows in Cyrodiil. I am actively researching a fix to strictly filter these out and ensure only true killing blows trigger the sound in future updates.
Features:
Mute BG Medals Settings: Toggle on/off to silence the repetitive arena medal sounds.
KillSound Settings: Choose your favorite high-quality in-game audio cue for killing blows.
Volume Boost: Stack the sound effect (up to 10x) to make sure you hear your victory over the combat chaos.
Important: This addon requires LibAddonMenu-2.0 to display the settings menu in-game.
