Journal (0.4.0)
Journal
The crafter’s daybook for The Elder Scrolls Online track every motif, recipe, and trait researched across all your characters, with current market prices delivered straight to chat and tooltip.
Journal is the in-game half of the Journal trading and crafting platform a careful, character-aware record of what each of your alts knows and what each one is worth. It scans your motifs, recipes, trait research, and alchemy discoveries, ships the data to your private dashboard, and brings current market prices back into the game where you actually need them.
How it works
This addon collects per-character knowledge and market observations. The Journal Companion desktop application uploads that data to the website and downloads current market prices for in-game display. Both halves are needed for the full experience the addon alone scans and stores; the Journal Companion is what closes the loop.
Setting up Journal Companion
To enable price annotations in chat, tooltips, and inventory:
Visit journal.erros.gg and create an account
Download Journal Companion from the dashboard
Run the installer and sign in once with your Journal account
Journal Companion runs quietly in the system tray, uploading data automatically as you play and pulling current prices hourly
Journal Companion is a small Go binary with no dependencies. It watches your SavedVariables directory for new data and writes the price snapshot back to the same directory. No manual file copying required.
Without Journal Companion
The addon still works on its own it scans your characters and writes data to SavedVariables. You can upload that file manually through the Journal website any time. You won’t get in-game pricing without Journal Companion running, but everything else (the dashboards, the cross-character views, the trade tracking) works just the same.

Settings
In ESO’s Settings → Addons menu, look for Journal. Three feature toggles let you enable or disable the chat link, tooltip, and inventory column overrides independently. Default: all on.
A note on data
Journal aggregates market data from every player who uploads what you contribute helps everyone, and what everyone contributes helps you. Your character knowledge stays private to your account; only anonymized market observations feed the public price tables.
Slash commands
/journal scan manually scan all character knowledge
/journal status show current addon status, including whether price data is loaded and fresh
Known notes
The addon works on PC NA and PC EU. Console clients aren’t supported (ESO doesn’t allow addons there).
Storing your AddOns folder in cloud-synced directories (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive) can cause file-write conflicts with Journal Companion. Local AddOns folder recommended.
LibAddonMenu-2.0 is required and bundled.
